Started My Second Secondary School!

Started my journey in education at my second Secondary School!

Once I had moved from where I used to live, I needed to start a new School (again) and I hated this because I hate making new friends all of the time; it can be so annoying because it meant that I would need to juggle my time with my old friends and juggle my time with my new friends and I hated that, I wanted one set of friends without all the juggling and have my life be nice and simple however in the end like always I did make friends in this School too which I also still speak to! This School thankfully wasn't as bad as The King Alfreds School an Academy, and thankfully it was smaller too, which made it easier to navigate all in one building; it was pretty sweet. The homework wasn't much and everything was really nice, the teachers were all nice and knowledgeable, everyone got on well, overall it was a really nice School to be at... until I got diagnosed with T1 Diabetes then they were pretty bad with management to begin with because they had told us they sent an email out to every lecturer to let them know of my specific requirements and if I had requested to leave the room for my medical reason then I should be allowed to leave to handle my medical issue, furthermore they were also made aware of my mobile device usage since the school had a no phone policy, you could bring your phone to school but you were not allowed to use it at all, not even on break or lunch (which I still think is awful for any secondary school to have such a rule) but since I couldn't calculate how much insulin I needed to take for the food I was eating at the time I had to use my mobile device and had to have it on me at all times, the School always struggled to get their head around this and even during moments when my Dexcom Sensor was reporting back to my mom that my blood sugar was low, all I needed to do was send my mom a message to say either I was okay or I was not okay and yet every time I did this, like really quick message to make my moms worries go away I get told off for using my phone and that I'm expected to use it only when I'm in the Reception Room or the Medical Room which is terrible, your telling me I've got to go all the way over to either of those rooms which, for your information, both rooms were in about 10 seconds of walking distance of each other would have been completely unsafe for me to do if I truely had low blood sugar, it's even more dangerous for me to walk down stairs whilst I'm in such state. I was one of those kids who wouldn't raise my hand either, so I would send an email out to both of the medical people at the time and would also send a message to my mom so she could be on standby to call the school if they didn't get back to my email in adequet time. I know this was pretty bad on my part but I was a kid that didn't want anyone else to think I was different or be annoyed at me for stopping the lesson and I hate having all attention on me so raising my hand in my eyes wasn't an option but my favourite medic by far was MEDIC 1 because she was always so nice, so kind, she always told me if there were ever a problem to email her or just knock and talk to her, she would always make sure I was completely okay and check up on me and my sugars, she was excellent, the other medic MEDIC 2 I did not prefer as much but she got better with me over time and she too was always there if I needed her but she did critique my way of getting to her (the emails I send when I need help or have mom call) saying that these methods weren't good enough, what if the medics weren't on their emails at the time and whatnot but my mom spoke to her and said that I don't like all the attention on me or stopping a lesson even for my medical reason and if the medics weren't available via email then the receptionists would find a medic because she would have already called them in time so my situation would always be dealt with either way. The Diabetic Doctors would have to send multiple emails to the school and have multiple meetings with the school about the importance of my medical condition, what I need from the school, what the school needs to expect from me and my mobile device and my usage for it and I had never used my phone for any other purpose within the school, I stuck to the rules because I'm not like that and I'm not going to take advantage of my mobile device access because I knew it was only fair that way as to not upset other students at the school. Overall, this school wasn't terrible, but it could have definitely been better.
